Growing up in Nigeria, Ankara fabric was always a part of my everyday life. I remember attending family weddings, church programs, and community celebrations where almost everyone wore matching Ankara outfits. At the time, I simply admired the beautiful colors and patterns. As I grew older and became more involved in the textile industry, I realized that Ankara is much more than just fabric—it is a powerful symbol of African identity, culture, and self-expression.
What fascinates me most is how this same fabric connects people across Africa, even though it goes by different names. Here in Nigeria, we proudly call it Ankara. In Ghana, many people know it as Ntoma. In Kenya and Tanzania, it is commonly called Kitenge. People in Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon often refer to it as Pagne, while in the Democratic Republic of Congo it is known as Liputa. South Africa has its own famous version called Shweshwe. Despite these different names, the fabric tells a shared African story—one of creativity, heritage, and pride.
Over the years, I have witnessed a remarkable transformation in how Ankara is used. It is no longer limited to clothing and fashion alone. Today, customized Ankara fabrics have become an important part of weddings, anniversaries, religious gatherings, political campaigns, school events, family reunions, and corporate branding. People now use fabric to communicate messages, celebrate milestones, promote organizations, and preserve memories. Seeing photographs, logos, names, and meaningful messages creatively printed on fabric has shown me how powerful this medium can be.
This growing demand for customization inspired the vision behind Ola Daviva. My goal was to create a company that would not only produce high-quality Ankara fabrics but also help individuals, businesses, and organizations bring their unique stories to life through customized textile designs. Today, Ola Daviva has grown into a trusted manufacturer, distributor, and supplier of customized Ankara fabrics serving clients across Africa and beyond. We specialize in producing premium-quality customized prints for weddings, churches, schools, associations, political groups, corporate organizations, and many other special occasions.
